Gefjon moves again

Check out this news story and imagine a quake long ago which separated the land and set New Zealand apart. What history is hidden in the lore? What is the story behind the legend?

The legend is is that once there was a beggar passing through a kingdom and the King took notice of her and demanded she entertain him. Then, as a jest perhaps, he said in payment for her services he would give her all the land she could plow in a day. He knew she had no oxen, no plow and no way to acquire these.

But the beggar was a Goddess who did not like the abuse the king heaped onto her people. She had come to set it all to rights. And at his word, she had him trapped, for a king can't turn back on his word.

She birthed two sons, turned them into oxen, and hitched them to a plow. Her sons, being shape-shifting sons of the Goddess, were well equipped to do the work she intended. The plow was huge and bit deep into the earth and the oxen/gods pulled the land to sea and made a new land -- a new sea land for the people who honored Gefjon.

Entirely arbitrarily, I equate Gefjon to Capricorn; her will to Saturn (ruler of Capricorn), who gets things done and helps us make our mark in the world.

The news article tells about an earthquake (of which New Zealand has many, because it is a meeting place of the Australian and Pacific plates, and further tells that because of the nature of the rupture of this meeting place, there was little damage to the land mass. It was simply moved to the west and further to sea.
