Where winter is not,
No one sees the blue tinted evening,
From a wood-fires side,
Looking through waverly glass,
And seeing yesterday...
Where winter doesn't thrive,
Apples come in plastic bags
With stickers on their bottoms,
Where winter is a stranger,
Folks need the gymn to keep in shape
Where winter is not,
A spring flower is just
Another pretty,
Not the marvel, miracle
It is to the winterbound.
I might shiver in the wind
And sigh at the snow shovel,
But where winter is not found,
Neither am I...

You have said it perfectly, Kate. There is magic in winter, if we are willing to live within it, not just with it.
