new moon -- new song

There's a new moon tonight. I thought of many things to do, but what I want to do is walk into a room with other folks and not say a word -- light a white candle and sit in a circle and not say a word. Breathe and watch the candle and at some point, the candle would flicker down to the last flame and we'd sit in the silence and the darkness until the time came for us each to leave the circle, taking with us all that calm back into the world. We'd be lights -- slow-moving comets going back into the world. Perceptive souls would see these streamers of light moving down the streets toward home -- living candles lighting the world so no one has to curse their personal, individual,  and sorrowful darkness alone.
